Her musical journey has been profoundly shapedby the women who have guided and influenced her. She has had the privilege of participating in masterclasses with Anna Magdalena Kokits and Chantal Balestri and studying under the mentorship of Winnie Mureithi, Hannah Emmrich, and Younkyung Kim.
Each of these women brings a unique, nuanced approach to music- making, and their influence can be heard in Nanjala’s own performances, which draw upon an intimate, sensitive interpretation of sound.
Chantal Balestri
Working with Nanjala was deeply rewarding. From our first lessons, her curiosity and rapid understanding of new concepts stood out. Beneath a quiet presence is a determined artist with a clear vision, strong values, and a deep love for music. I believe she will be an important voice in Kenya’s musical future.
